Another Puppet Build


Here’s proof that it doesn’t cost a lot to build a puppet. Thanks to Project Puppet’s Pin Head Pattern- this build only cost about $11.00 Cdn. in materials. Don’t believe me? Check out my breakdown of cost (minus the tools).

 Cost for a Puppet

Felt- 3 squares for a dollar (used for mouth) = $1.00

Ping Pong balls (eyes)= 4 pairs for a dollar= .25

Sign Board (Interior Mouth) 1- 2×1 foot sign= .10

Contact Cement (Interior Head)=  .50

Thread/Needle (Sewing Kit)= $1.00

½” Foam ($6.00 a Metre)= $1.50

Stuffing= ($8.00 a bag)= .75

Hot Glue (pack 12)=$1.00= .25

Black pupils ($3.00 for pack of 4 pairs)= .75

Rods (Piano Wire)= $2.00

Screws= .10

Wood for rods= .75

Fabric ($8.00 per metre)= $2.00 


Tools Used not included in price:Scissors/glue gun/puppet pattern/markers/needle nose pliers/dremel tool/stainless steel blades/sewing machine/calipers/sand paper

    you can indeed build some puppets for very little money ,

    but how much time did you spend on it?

    and what do you think your time is worth?

    plus you spent money on the pattern.

    that’s a fun looking puppet! i’d love to see a screen test of the little fella jumping around 🙂
    @james: i think the question about time’s worth would only be interesting when building puppets for sale, so your can calculate your profits.
