Another question…

I recieved the following email, if anyone can help let me know.

Hello, I am writing a book on the actress Debbie Weems who was on Captain Kangaroo from 1973-1977. She died in 1978. She introduced and did the voice for a puppet called “Baby Duck.” That puppet was added to the Captain Kangaroo family of puppets like Mr. Moose and Bunny Rabbit. Do you know of anyone that has stills or video of Baby Duck? Do you know of any puppeteers that worked on Captain Kangaroo during the 1970s that I could interview for my book? How much of an impact did Captain Kangaroo’s puppets have on modern puppetry? Do you know who went from CK to Sesame Street and how might they have been influenced by the CK puppets? Thanks for any help you can offer.

If you know any information let me know, thanks.

PS- Thanks goes out to Kanja Chen from Censational Puppets who was able to answer another viewers email about the show that aired in the 1970’s…he answered with the following email:

I just read the email you posted on your blog and I know the answer to your question. The show was called “Blizzard Island” and it aired on CBC. Terry Angus was the creator. You can find more information on his website here:

and here:

I hope I helped.

Didn’t Kevin Clash do some work on a later version of the ‘Captain’? I could have sworn I’ve read something to that effect.
